My favourite time of day to photograph families is in the mornings; when the light is great and outdoor spaces are still fairly quiet.  I find that children are generally at their brightest around this time of day aswell, having been fed and watered and raring to go!

A typical shoot will tend to last around 1 hour.  This allows for a variety of locations and time for breaks if needed.
